The UPS man arrived at my doorstep this morning bearing gifts! I just got a chance to look through some of the newest Barefoot releases:
Kids' Garden is of course beautifully illustrated
(it's where those flowers came from for my latest blog banner!) and is full of lots of fun ideas! How about having a race, between a snail, ant, inchworm and other insects? Turning your brother or sister into a camera?
We're Roaming in the Rainforest is another wonderful addition to the "Laurie Krebs library" and as a storyteller, I'm inspired by the animal actions for kids to do... swim like pink river dolphins, march like leaf cutter ants on parade, crouch like jaguars... And like other Laurie Krebs' books, it also provides information on the peoples of the area, as well as the animals, and there is a nice bit on conservation too!
Up, Up, Up! has simple text and is a brightly illustrated trip in a hot air balloon, with a sing-along cd! Repeated in the story, the song is:
Up, up, up, up in a balloon. Up so high I can touch the moon.
Up, up, up, sailing with the clouds. Look at me! I'm so high, I can fly, I know how.
And a special piece of text I enjoy is:
I see all people,
All trees,
Cats and dogs,
bear and monkeys.
Cars and buildings,
All those cities,
Jungles, mountains and countries.
They're blending into just one color...
And it's green!
